Commiseration is hard to avoid when it comes to chronic illness.

People expressed a strong desire for useful content that they could ultimately apply to their lives. Many members felt support groups lacked tangible advice and were often riddled with toxic negativity.

Although 55% of members listed “learning” as their top goal on our platform with the majority listing “venting & commiseration” as their last, 74.7% of members still indicated the desire to write posts to “let things go and release emotions or frustrations” with 68.7% indicating the desire to “commiserate with others.”

This showed a huge discrepancy between goals and desired behaviors. While this presented a huge challenge for our team, we found our best tactic came in rooting a “constructive” culture by guiding people to share useful posts during our beta so we could set the stage of what our platform was meant for.

"I had the pleasure of working with Diana on community management during our public launch. Fortunately, I was able to piggy-back off the success she brought in the systems and methods created during her Beta Program. Without this, my job would have been infinitely more difficult.

What impressed me the most was her intuitive yet thoughtful approach to managing everything. Diana excels at collaborating with teammates of diverse experience and skill sets and does a great job of translating feedback into creative, beautiful design solutions. She understands the needs of the business and knows when to listen and when to lead.

Diana works to a high standard and consistently delivers fresh, appealing, and accessible content. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented, receptive, and positive person!"
